Here’s a pretty funny video (viewed over 100,000 times) of a Mini Rambo 3181 with M203 Grenade Launcher on YouTube made by HobbyTron. You can pick up one of the incredibly cheap and fun guns for $20 at Hobby Tron. It shoots an impressive 200 FPS. The grenade launcher is a spring shotgun style gun which is fired separately.

FPS Airsoft Style
I actually liked this airsoft video (shocking I know) as it’s well put together and offers an almost FPS or first-person-shooter view of a real life airsoft skirmish (and in HD to boot). The camera was in macro mode, so it’s not the best quality, but I’m sure you can find more videos from CombativeAirsoft at YT. It was posted yesterday, and has garnered 304 views as of this writing.

Positive Airsoft News … for once
I routinely will search Google News for airsoft related news and typically it’s a collection of dumb kids doing dumb things with airsoft pistols and rifles. Much to my surprise this morning I came across a positive airsoft story featuring a teen who successfully defended his home with use of an airsoft pistol, shotgun and flashlight.
The real shotgun (warning shot) probably did more to scare the burglars then the airsoft bb to the face but still, it’s a fantastic story about a very brave and cool-under-pressure 13 year old.
The most hilarious aspect of the story is the commenters (trolls) who turn this feel-good kid-beats-robbers story into a debate about gun-control, liberal wussies and Cheney references.
To recap, airsoft guns in schools to assault innocent people = bad. Airsoft guns at home which can be used to scare off robbers = good.

Airsoft Data; Where is Airsoft Popular in the US?
I find Internet data, and the reporting that can be created from it, fascinating. Insert airsoft into that formula and you find out some interesting things about this fast growing hobby using web tools that track search activity. Google has a service called Trends which tracks the popularity of search keywords used at their very popular search engine.
This service not only shows search volume over a time period of several years but also reports on regional trends.
If I asked what major US city sees the most airsoft searches what would you say?
Well the answer is Seattle Washington followed closely by San Diego California and Las Angeles.

Apparently monkey-boy Kyle has some rather nice friends (Ryan pictured below) who despite being entertained by a pretty hilarious monkey-boy dance (complete with Mickey Mouse gloves) proceed to assault him with various manor of projectiles, airsoft bbs being included.

Airsoft Sniper Rifles
Everyone loves airsoft sniper rifles, probably because every one loves to play a little backyard soda-can sniper! But seriously, if you look at any keyword list you’ll see along with the top general airsoft gun terms, most people search for sniper rifles, more than pistols, shotguns, grenades, machines guns, rifles and the very popular m4 (eat it m4!).
Without further adieu I present to you airsoft noobs and pros-a-like my 3 tiered airsoft sniper rifle round-up.
1. Top Tier – Mauser
I’ve written previously about the Mauser airsoft sniper rifle and labeled it in my review as: uber, kick-ass, futuristic, minimalist, and astonishing. Which should give you an idea of what I think of this spring rifle.
2. Middle Tier – G22
The G22 is a green gas gun (so it’s sorta cheating) that shoots in the neighborhood of 410 feet per second. It’s bolt action, 43 inches long and looks pretty mean. I haven’t reviewed it yet but will soon and I think an argument could be made (and lost) that it should be a tier 1 gun.
3. Bottom Tier – M14
The storied 1960′s era M14 rounds out the list and brings a slightly different take to the sniper rifle formula. Unlike it’s real life counter-part and most sniper rifles, the airsoft M14 is full auto, and can shoot in either mode. This is another rifle I’ll profile in the future as it looks like a fun airsoft gun.

Upgrade Your Airsoft Gun
The first thing any airsoft player thinks of when he or she hears the word “upgrade” is a speed or FPS bump. Most respectable AEG’s shoot around 300 FPS stock, but for some that simply is not fast enough (bigger welts! longer range!)
A word of caution however for your airsoft newbs: An FPS upgrade is not always the wisest path to improved play, as other upgrades to internals and tighter barrels can have more of an impact on your game than just a speed bump alone.
Who am I kidding, you love speed, we love speed and here is some dude from AirsoftGI.com talking about … speed.

Or are all the commentors unaware of their behavior and are thereby not bothered by it?
