When most new airsoft players shop for a spring, gas or electric airsoft gun they usually tend to focus on the FPS or feet-per-second rating of the gun. FPS is important, however it’s only 1 measure of an airsoft gun’s effectiveness and one that most likely isn’t the most important. If you’re looking to upgrade your gun to increase it’s accuracy or range, look into these more effective upgrades first before you shoot for a higher FPS:

1. Tightbore Upgrade. (the most effective upgrade for accuracy and range.)
2. Durability Upgrade. (reinforced internals, metal bushings, shims etc.)
3. Hopup Upgrade.
4. Battery Upgrade.

Once your gun is accurate and shooting consistently, THEN you can think about increasing the FPS of your airsoft rifle, pistol or SMG.

If you’re purchasing a new gun, instead of looking for a high FPS, shop for a quality brand first, with metal internals and other upgrades from the list above, you can always upgrade your FPS later.
